The AIDS Healthcare Foundation Nigeria (AHF Nigeria) has opened applications for a two month media reporting project designed to improve journalistic coverage of HIV and tuberculosis in communities disproportionately impacted by these diseases. The initiative, announced in a statement on Monday, seeks to engage journalists in ethical and solutions oriented reporting practices that prioritize community voices and address systemic barriers to care.
According to Steve Aborisade, Senior Advocacy and Marketing Manager at AHF Nigeria, the project will emphasize ethical storytelling while avoiding sensationalism or stigmatizing language. Participants will receive training on evidence based reporting, data interpretation, and the importance of centering affected communities in their narratives. The goal is to counter misinformation and foster public understanding of HIV and TB prevention, treatment, and stigma reduction.
